I am looking for a bamboo plant to provide a screen from an ugly property that (1) grows quickly (2) needs little sun (3) can be planted in a barrel (4) grows to 10 - 12 ft (5) if 6 barrels are placed together will be thick enough to join together to create a screen.
    Many thanks
    Marian

I'll list some bamboos that do well in containers and with light shade.
    Fargesia nitida
    Phyllostachys humilis
Phyllostachys aureosulcata f. aureocaulis - yellow culms
    Phyllostachys auresulcata f. spectabilis
    Phyllostachys nigra - black culms
    Fargesia robusta

There are alot more that would do just fine but these are listed as great in containers and I know are available in BC.
