Please help me ID this shrub that was recently photographed in Baja California Sur. Thanks kindly, Anne Kivari
Hi Tyrlych - what's the reasoning for the change? Most sites (e.g. GRIN) still list Cascabela thevetia as a synonym, with Thevetia peruviana as the accepted name.
Hi Michael - I may be wrong of course but it seems that ThePlantList website is more quick in publishing changes. This page http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl1.1/record/kew-203891 also contains link to a Kew record.

Thanks! Looks like it's a matter of opinion, rather than a split needed to maintain monophyly. I fear I've found the Plant List is not a particularly reliable source, unfortunately.
For things that are certain, one has to make a judgment call and go with what one thinks is best at the time. There are a number of older Botany Photo of the Day entries that I would now consider out of date either for name or family name reasons.
Despite the frequently stated desire for it plant subjects often don't lend themselves to one stop reference shopping.
