I would like to build a stream (with waterfalls) on my backyard slope. I live in So California (not sure what zone). The slope is about 25' high from the base of my backyard and about 25' deep and abutts the back of my property. My question is-if I put round rocks/boulders on the slope, would there be a danger of them rolling off the slope and hurting someone? I can picture this happening if kids climb on the rocks or there is an earthquake.

25 high and 25 deep is a 1 to 1 slope, a 45 degree angle (I think...). use some rounded stones and some angular ones, you shouldnt have much problem. If you are concerned about earthquake damage, consult a geotechnical engineer for advice about slope stability and such for your area.
