I have seen many little nests of baby spiders strung out on stalks and leaves lately, and although I don't think they harm the plants, does anyone know what kind of spider they are? They mass together in a little blob and when disturbed they spread out in all directions, but eventually glom together again. Yellow with a little black dot on the bum, pretty cute.
    thanks!

Those would be baby Yellow Garden Spiders. Also known as Black and Yellow Garden Spiders. Not dangerous to humans, their bite may cause slight swelling and itching for a few days.

Pretty nifty closeup shot! We've seen several groups of baby spiders in our Vancouver yard too. Come the fall, we'll be caught in the odd web across a walkway. Ack!
