PtB, No, my Oxydendron only had average color this year, which was surprising because so many other trees have been as stunning as I can ever remember! It also colored up rather early, which may have been a result of the drought. This plant gets no supplemental water, and therefore may have been stressed more than normal. Adding to our typically hot, dry Aug. , we got ZERO rain in September! Actually no rain for about 6 weeks. Normally September is about 4.5 inches or so and October is the driest month of the year. They were somewhat reversed this time. I have seen mine color up more brilliantly like your photo, but not this year.
