OK, there are flowers. Lots of them. I just refused to get started on them all, but a few called out for attention. This grouping in the entrance circle, for instance, is a knock-out. I think these are Monarda 'Fireball' (on the Home Page | UBC Botanical Garden homepage right now) Helianthus Rudbeckia Corrections are welcome. I know very little about common garden plants.
I'm a big fan of Inula, which I first learned about in this garden. These must be Inula magnifica. These leaves are so soft and fuzzy. That was showy big excitement. This is small discrete big excitement. Dichroa februga. Daniel Mosquin posted these when the flowers were all blue - Dichroa febrifuga. I like this stage with the white flowers just starting to bleed blue from the centres and the blue stamens, haven't yet seen them all blue. [Edited March 13, 2018: that link is now called: Hydrangea febrifuga, as the plant as been renamed]
