btw - what attracts ladybugs to come in your garden?

also, when i was a kid - i love ladybugs - i heard from someone back at primary school that ladybugs can make your dream come true. simply put your ladybug in your palm - talk to the ladybug what you want/wish for several times, and release the bud.

to be honest - my wish did came true..same did my brother. we both wish for a toy that we always wanted as a child - we were so poor then and it was a miracle that this wish came true.

anway, back to my question - so which plant attracts ladybugs? there's no sign of ladybugs in my garden.

Other insects attract them, primarily aphids. Not sure about Australia, but where I am you can purchase ladybugs at local garden centers. However, they wont stick around long if there's nothing for them to eat.

I've always found lots of ladybugs on my hops vine here in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ladybugs also seem to like my bronze fennel. I also don't use pesticides.

OHH! OHH! I know!!!! You just brought back a wonderful memory for me a kid. We use to have tons of them all the time. I liked your story. Ours was different though. We were taught that when a Ladybug lands on you, you are supposed to say the following: "Ladybug, Ladybug, go fly away. Your house is on fire and your children are astray!" The things that make you get a memory flash eh? Well, we live in B.C., lower mainland and we had tons of them on our Rhododendrum's(I don't think I spelt that correctly!). They love the leaves and the flower themselves. Also, Rose plants and bushes really attract Ladybugs too. They are so healthy for your plants. Hope this helps!
    Drew.
