hi! i have received an orchid--it has flowers spread over a 24" vine, with the large dark green leaves only at the bottom of the vine. each bloom is star shaped with five distinct and separate petals, light yellow in color, with the center part of the flower much larger than the petals and hanging down vertically from the center of the star--sort of the effect of a tongue hanging out. the center is perhaps twice the size of the petals. each flower is about 2-3 " across total. anyone able to help me ID this? thanks-- bart millar pdx, oregon millar.b@gmail.com
You should understand that there are countless numbers of orchids out there, the wild species alone numbering in the thousands. Hybrids are extremely numerous and ephemeral. If it didn't come with a label stuck in the pot... Try taking it when in bloom to a nearby orchid show or orchid nursery, if you can.
