Why this B.C. municipality wants to ban stickers on fruits and vegetables Silly me, I incorrectly assumed those stickers were biodegradable.
I've always recognized that, being plastic, stickers are not biodegradable and always peeled them off before composting. Ideally, producers will come up with biodegradable stickers. Until then, I hope other cities and municipalities will ban the vinyl ones.
I thought those stickers would be edible! I haven't really been eating them deliberately, but I always wondered if I needed to be so careful.
We get the things here too, usually with just a barcode for the till scanner, and a right nuisance they are too, often damaging the fruit if you try to remove them. Yes, they need to be banned and replaced with biodegradable (and preferably edible!) labels.
Apparently there are alternatives. For example: Compostable Labels: France’s Answer to Fruit Plastic Stickers Home-compostable, lower-cost fresh produce label revealed by GSL As Canada considers ban on plastic produce labels, this company makes paper and compostable ones

More and more efforts are being made to preserve nature, but unfortunately, so much has been thrown into the trash that it takes centuries to completely clean it up. And probably "full" is too strong a word. That's right. Thoughts in voice. And in my case, if necessary, I use a medical adhesive plaster for marking or tape the inscription on the paper.
