Artichoke - C. cardunculus or C. scolymus?

    This was planted by a brewpub in Portland, Oregon.

    I can't find much by way of definitive pictures on the web, so hopefully someone here can help!

    Is it Cynara scolymus or Cynara cardunculus (or some other species)???

    I guess I should've said definitive pictures with regard to comparison with MY pictures...

    I'm still leaning towards C. cardunculus. I read somewhere in all of my searching that there are cultivated varieties that do NOT have the long spines on the leaves. The "choke" of C. scolymus always seems to have fatter "scales"... (Sorry about my lack of proper botanical terms...)
