I have 25 feet of areca palms on the south end of my property against my chain link fence. Recently they have started to die and are falling over. They are about 25 feet tall and are creating a hazard in my yard. Any ideas why they would die at such an alarming rate. They are at least 30 years old. thanks.

Lethal palm yellows? Not sure if that attacks Areca, more commonly a disease of Coconuts but it does attack some other palms.

Thanks to all who replied regarding my areca palms. I had a landscape guy here this AM and he told me they had gonoderma and there is no cure. They all need to be taken down to the roots and we cannot plant any palms there again. Price was about $800 - $1000. Cannot do right now, not working. But, hopefully we can get thru hurricane season and maybe get a job and get this done. Thanks again to all who replied, and if anyone knows a miracle cure.....let me know.
