my problem is now, waiting for the summer months but for now my "Rosa sinesis, Baja Breeze" (Tropical hibiscus) is now inside for the winter months. But during the summer, i found that my hibiscus wasn't preforming like the pictures, and the sizes aren't that dramatic, like the pictures. i have good pro-mix and out-side all summer month, and i also occasional feed it, what about winter months? and is pruning all that nessassary? i want a larger Bush not small..

Where were the pictures taken, Canada or the sub tropics?
I believe it is a combination of both, in my experience anyway

also it may depend on how many sunlight hours you give it. if was just barely enough for it to bloom the blooms may be smaller and not as colorfull
