The following message was received via email: (from Burnaby, British Columbia) I have an Arbutus tree approximately 15 years old. The top half has flowers and foliage. The bottom half is either dead or is just beginning to break out new leaves. This has not happened before. Is this part of the life cycle of the tree?
I suspect the Arbutus has been affected by our unseasonable spring weather. Some of the plants in the garden have shown this behaviour. I am assuming the lower branches eventually leafed out.
