I knew nothing about American groundnut, but it was just ID'd on a facebook group I sometimes follow, so I looked it up: Apios americana - Wikipedia It's quite a detailed article It sounds like a tasty, nutritious, not hard to grow plant, seems curious why it hasn't made it at least in non-commercial farm circles. It has been known to grow in New Brunswick, Quebec, and Ontario, hardy to zone 3. The only downside mentioned by Wikipedia was the difficulty of commercial harvesting. Flowers are pretty too. OK, I found another downside: it can become a serious weed in cranberry plots. Apios americana (also quite detailed article). That could be an issue here. It's been posted in Plants ID four or five times, but never in this veggie gardening forum.
