I was just checking my plants this morning and i noticed that on one half of my sempervivum has quite a few greenish-brown aphids, at least that's what I think they are, they're wingless and kinda sticky and soft. There's also more white, what looks like empty body cases all over the place. I bought this plant in the outdoor section of a garden centre and apparentely the eggs of these beasties lie dormant over the winter and since I've been keeping it as an indoor plant I'm guessing they've woken up since its warmer in here! Anyways....I've read that you can get rid of them with a home-made solution of cooking oil, dish soap and water and to do this once a week - will my semp be okay being sprayed like this, I know they're very suscepible to rot? Thanks
Just hose them off and let drain... they should be left out of doors, they really do not like indoors...
Mine seems to be quite happy (other than the aphids!), and before I realised they could survive outside in the UK I kept them indoors for years and had no problems....but thanks for your advice, I will do that tomorrow.
Be mindful that winter is not over, and a deep frost would shock or even decimate them after the comforts of been indoors.. sun and temp. adjustments here...
