    Hello-
I live in NH and there are these trees that have bright orange berries. They just started appearing... Any idea what kind of tree it is?

    Thanks in advance.

Mountain Ash (Rowan) - Sorbus americana or Sorbus aucuparia - I can't tell you the exact species as there's no photo of the trunk's bark there.

The tree should have had fairly showy white flowers on it that smelled faintly of fish, probably in May or June. As autumn approaches, the foliage will go a coppery red, and the berries will persist through the snowfall. In the spring (at least in Western Canada) there are flocks of Cedar Waxwings that will come to feast on the berries.

I'm quite fond of Rowan trees, actually, and they're one of the only things I miss about Canada.

Round here the parrots have them in one sitting. Have had to resort to putting tinsle and other bits and bobs on tree near the berries when they are out just so I get to see them.
