Anyone know what the heck this is?

    I saw a lot of these on the last hike. I've seen them before but have always wondered what they are. There were several around, I wish I had taken more pictures. Some were broken open, hollow and light colored on the inside.

    Looks like a sp. of puffball fungus.

    If that is the case, you might want to try posting in the Fungus and Lichen Identification sections. Although for a lot of fungi, a spore print is crucial to IDing correctly.
