This small tree is growing in a Toronto area garden. Any help identifying it would be appreciated. thanks, Ursula
Welcome ursulaf. Looks like 2 different shrubs. Please could you check. A Cornus ( common name Dogwood)with the smooth leaf and a Corylus (common name hazel) with the larger different leaf. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgu...&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:17,s:0&biw=1247&bih=528 http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgu...age=1&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:0&tx=103&ty=67
Agree on the hazel, but the one with the smaller smooth leaves is a buckthorn, Rhamnus cathartica to be exact (you'd best remove it too, as it is listed as an invasive weed in your area).
