Looks more like Ficus, perhaps F. microcarpa.

Junglekeeper is surely the authority here.

I thought 'caudex'...but more like 'trunk', eh?
J-k: Is this plant a bonsai, or are we seeing the manifestation of a glandular disorder??

My guess would be a bonsai but then I have no idea what a glandular disorder is for a plant. So much for being an authority!

I'm a novice to bonsai (I have two), but I have seen people make those formations on purpose. Hope the plant doesn't have something wrong with it cause it sure is pretty!
