Hi everyone, new on the forum here..

Anyway, just like to know whether anyone could identify this little critter growing at the back of my garden. I've been dying to know just what exactly it is for ages, yet no-one around here seems to know. (sorry, best pic I could manage with the phonecam)

It's around 7 inches tall by about 9 inches in diameter. The leaves are long, thin and reddish in color, with slight serrated edges. Seems to be drought tolerant. Growth rate is slow as well.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Kind regards.

Could it be some Bromelia, say, B. serra, B. balansae or B. humilis?

    Hi Andrey,

I think you're right. Just checked an online source, and yes, most likely Bromelia balansae by the looks of it.

Thankyou for the help, at least now I know what it is.

    Regards.
