Looking for something to do while being stuck inside I've been scouring through my unidentified plant pictures. I've sorted out a few mysteries but these two have me stumped. Any help would be appreciated.
You know I know nothing about these, but you said any help, so I'm going to ask if Senecio nemorensis is any help for the second one. Senecio nemorensis
Thanks Wendy. It certainly looks similar but in all the images I've looked at the leaves don't seem to be quite as heavy a texture. Also, few shots show anything like the distinctive purple-red stems. It's probably something pretty close, though.
Thanks again, Wendy. You got me on the right track. I think it's Senecio ovatus subsp. alpestris. Senecio nemorensis is now classified as Senecio ovatus, or incorporated into that species.
@hortiphoto, you wouldn't have got the ID of the first one and not told us, would you? I'd love to stop looking for this thing, can't believe it's so hard to find. I was checking out Spilanthes for a while tonight. It was closer than a lot of things, but didn't quite do it.
No, I still don't know what it is. Spilanthes/Acmella tend to be low-growing and soft-stemmed, but this is shrubby and fairly upright, though sprawling. It remains a mystery, but thanks for the suggestion.
