Any guesses what we're looking at...

    I rather suspect we're dealing with something close to a weed, seeing as the gal who gave it to us has tons of it in her backyard, but I'd like to be able to put a name to it....

    I wouldn't bet any money on it but your photos remind me of an enthusiastic weed called Herb Robert, Geranium robertianum. Regardless, the fact that your acquaintance has 'tons' of it in her backyard should set off alarm bells for you.

    Thanks Margot, kinda figured it was a Geranium of some kind....We'll heed the warning...

    Just give a leaf a tap between two fingers -- if it smells like sesame oil, then that'll confirm the ID.

    About all I could smell was something akin to fresh carrots....
