This seed pod is developing on my A. vittifolium. This is a first for me withthis plant. I have had seeds on some big birdsnest types and on gracile. I hope it will yield some plants. It could have been cross pollinated with many other nearby anthuriums, or I guess with itself?
Nice one bihai , herre it has a common name made up by someone with imagination ; Anthurium Medusa . Correct spelling is vittariifolium .. one spelling has double ll in folium .. I just found my plant of this sp. the plastic hanging basket it was in had disintegrated but the fern roots had moulded the media into a mass . May just place it in the branches somewhere within reach of a hose and hope for the best. I know someone with many large mature plants who sells the leaves to the florist trade ..she gets seeds often . It is wendlingeri that I want , the Anth. sp with the groovy curly pigtail spadix.
Thank you for pointing out my spelling errors in a non-condescending way, LOL. I make so many of them, its a wonder folks know which plants I am even talking about! I have been lusting after A. wendlingeri for aeons!! I have never actually seen one, only photos.
Regina , Anth wendlingeri is a really difficult plant to propagate , it will crawl along the media when mature , and looks to be easily chopped , but the base will not re-shoot and the tip will wither and die . Crying shame for such a beautiful plant . Mate got seed set once, not long after getting the plant , he grew them well in little hanging pots along with his thousands of Nepenthes , then sold them all . Little realizing how lucky he had been getting the seeds in the first place . Mine grew well for a few years and then karked it .
"Folium" would have one "l", as in "foliage". "Vitifolium" is used for plants thought to have leaves like a grape (Vitis).
