We bought 2 saplings a few years ago that were, according to the label, supposed to grow into edible cherry producing trees (I can't remember the variety). However, after 3 years of growth this is what each one looks like - not at all what I expected. Are they, or will they ever become cherry trees? If not, do you have any idea what they are? Thanks for the help!
No, there are no thorns on these plants. The "branches" are generally smooth although as it grows some lateral splitting of the exterior bark occurs.
