This is another lilium which I got frm china this winter. It was named lilium sp 1, and I know that it grows in china at 1800 m, in the mountains.
The bulb is yellow and fairly large, about the size of an egg. (see attatched photos).
I have not yet been able to identify this lily, so I would be very gratefull if anyone could help. It has just started growing, it's shoot is about 1 or 2 cm out of the soil only, so I guess its going to flower quite late.
the picture of it in flower was the one on the site of the chinese nursery from which I got it.

  2. It is L.taliense var. kaichen.
Alisdair Aird ( UK ) and I described this species some years ago in the Newsletter of the Species Preservation Lily Group.
This species can be crossed with another new chinese species called L.lijiangense.
L.taliense var. kaichen is a difficult species to grow from seed as the seeds often germinates in the seedpod before they are mature.
