Another Plant Needs ID

    A correspondent wants to know whether this plant is a weed or garden perennial because it's spreading rapidly.

    Seems familiar. Kind of reminds me of Shasta daisy--that would be a perennial and an invasive weed by my assessment. Hard to tell from that image.

    I agree, hard to tell until the plant is more mature. I'm guessing the purple color is a response to cold temperature and maybe atypical for the plant as a whole. Leaf dentation seems to be rather subtle for Shasta daisy. Is some kind of goldenrod a possibility? Thanks. Bob

    Yes, goldenrod would be a possibility. Their leaves often have that sheen.
