I said that I would just let it be, but I am getting worried about this amaryllis. It flowered over 4 months ago. Shouldn't it go into some dormant state? Should I withhold water or light?

It may actually flower without apparent dormancy. Give it a couple of months. I'm in Florida and all my amaryllis are outside, some in pots, some in the ground. They've lost a few leaves with the cooler weather, but still are quite green. That is likely due to higher humidity and watering via rainfall and overspray. I will have flowers in late winter, in my experience.

Cooler and drier conditions along with longer nights will trigger dormancy. It gives the bulbs some chance to rest and then form buds. Leaves still green are contributing to the bulb vigor as long as they are not actively growing and depleting reserves that would be used for the buds.
