So we have.. a lone blue flower, big rather hideous mat of something, a plant that has Japanese Anemone-ish leaves, a vine with large green leaves (ignore the california lilac growing under it), and the leaves on a leggy shrub/tree.

    5. Pretty sure it is a Hamamelis x intermedia cultivar. Please can you have a close look at the base of the leaves, I think I can see the flower buds ready for next spring. Common name witch hazel.

    1. Agree with Lila Lithodora.

    4. Think it looks more like Ivy, Hedera helix.

    4. I'm fairly certain it's not hedera. The leaf shape does seem to match vinca major.

#4 - Agree with Vinca major, not Hedera. Note opposite leaves (alternate on Hedera).
#5 - Agree with Hamamelis sp., not Parrotia.
