Hello, We operate a small greenhouse, and every year, we have the same problems with the geranium seedlings. They're ok for a few weeks, but then the leaves shrivel up and the plant wilts and dies. I'm wondering what the problem is? I've posted some pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/jonhofer1984/GeraniumsWithProblems The white on the leaves is not a reflection. It's what's actually affecting the plants Any help? JH
I'm no Pelargonium expert (by any means), but if you keep having the same problems, at the same stage of growth, I'd be asking questions about environmental pollutants, like oxides of sulfur or nitrogen, ethylene or ozone. Common sources for these pollutants include automobiles and industry. Is the greenhouse located near any internal combustion engine? Near a driveway where the exhaust from a car might be present? Near a freeway, industrial plant, coal-burning facility? Do you store apples under the benches (a source of ethylene)? How do you heat the greenhouse (a catalytic heater)? From where does the water come? Has it been tested?
