Andre has kindly volunteered to help moderate the Maple and Maple Photo Gallery forums. Some of his duties will include helping to ensure things are tidy (e.g., removing duplicate threads), approving threads from unregistered folks and editing thread titles to accurately reflect topics when necessary (e.g., names in the Maple Photo Gallery). I'm grateful for his lending of an extra helping hand.
...and in addition to Andre, maf has agreed to be a moderator as well. So between the two of them, I've given them the following tasks: 1) delete any spam messages 2) help organize the photo galleries (because they are sorted by thread title by default, it's important that names conform to the correct format) 3) move non-maple threads out to the general gardening Q&A, moving maple threads in from elsewhere on the site (if possible) 4) add prefixes to threads when suitable (e.g., edit thread title -> select a prefix -> identification / pruning / hedges / propagation) 5) steer discussions back on-topic (or split threads if necessary) 6) lastly as a low priority, to help with cleaning up the general gardening q&a forum for when I was absent last year -- essentially to look for threads via "search this forum" that include the words acer or maple or maples and move relevant threads into the Maple forum. Welcome maf!
Welcome, maf, as a new moderator. You will do a great job. Thanks to Andre & Daniel for all their excellent work.
Thanks for the welcome guys. Hopefully nothing will change in the maples forum apart from an extra eye to delete spam and move things that have been put in the wrong thread. I am going to try and tidy up the Acer palmatum photo gallery a bit, which will mainly consist of merging duplicate threads (eg where one was misnamed), and correcting the name format on others. If I have time, I may also remove some (hopefully very few) pictures from the gallery, in such cases as it is obvious they are not representative of the cultivar in that gallery thread. To help me in this, if anyone has been bugged by wrong cultivars being posted in photo gallery threads, please PM me with details of the offending pictures, and please state a valid reason why they are not representative of the cultivar in question.
