    This was taken in the same area -- mountain slope, no shade, fairly dry (except this year)

    The flowers were quite small -- less than a quarter inch across...

    Any ideas?

    It seems a member of the Family Chenopodiaceae

    Chenopodiaceae?? 虫实(Corispermum spp. )?

    It would appear to be Salsola kali
