I have searched & searched but cannot seem to identify this beautiful succulent plant Ive had for quite a few years, but only began to thrive within the last year. This guy is amazing! It has very thick, waxy leaves, clumps of little white flowers at the end of all the stems, & almost bark-like stems that can support their own weight (both of which can be seen in the photo on the right, but let me know if you need a better view of the stems). SO, can anyone tell me anything about this beauty?? I think Ive narrowed it down to the Crassula genus, but really that's only because those are the succulents, & I have nearly negative experience with plant identification. Im working on it though, & considering this glorious specimen easily is the prize of my at home-horticulture (this photo is a bit old, its much bigger now!) Id love to know what it is :/ Thanks muchly UBC peeps! dave
I believe it is a Kalanchoe, of the family crassulaceae. I have no idea which one tho. You can check it out on-line and see if you agree. Barb
Yes Kalanchoe, and a nice one too!It is a short-day plant, like a christmas cactus. So to get it to bloom it needs at least 13 or 14 hours a night of uninterrupted darkness. Ideal temps 18-20C. If it gets down to 15C or over 22C, then you might not get your flowers. Other than that I might treat it just like a christmas cactus. :)
Thank you both so much!! I was way off :P I really should take a new picture & attach that, because not only is it much bigger, it's covered in little white flowers - I've never seen anything quite like it! Again, thanks so much for taking the time to help, because not being able to find it has been driving me up the wall! dave
