I am trying to identify the specific plant this is (see attached photo). It is one of the first plants up in the Spring, seems to be a strong grower, and it is spreading. The "Seek" app indicates it is some type of Amaryllis plant. Can anybody here confirm that? (I assumed Amaryllis was a more exotic/indoor plant that wouldn't grow wild here.) Is it a pest plant?
It is hard to grasp the actual scale from the photo. Hyacinth can have very narrow leaves: Grape Hyacinth Floral Arrangement in Pot I'm not so familiar with Amaryllises, those I have ever met, had much broader leaves.
Ah...common names strike again. Muscari ...common name Grape hyacinth .....are very different to Hyacinthus...common name Hyacinth. Muscari..see 1 and 2. Hyacinthus see 3 - 4
Attached are a couple updated photos. Some plants are just about to bloom. Some have already been blooming for a while. They certainly are strong growers, spreading everywhere, and quick to flower. They are even beating the Comfrey, which I thought was an early bloomer.
Grape Hyacinths grow like weeds; after a few years they are so crowded that most of the plants don't flower. I've been trying to clear our yard of them for years.
