In the past if I had limbs in May that looked like they had died back overwinter, I pruned them back. Out of curiosity, this year I didn't. I can't believe how many JM and hydrangeas, and other shrubs and trees have sent out green on limbs that looked dead. I don't really have anything more to say than that. I just found it fascinating. Any thoughts?

My test is bending the branch/twig looking suspicious, it is not difficult to tell if it is worth waiting or pruning it off.
