We've had this jade (both the main plant and the smaller clipping on the side) for ten years and it is very special to us. It had never particularly thrived and since we moved one year ago, it has been dying. The leaves are dessicated and drooping, and it looks sick. We've read other forums and believe that part of the problem is that it is planted in a glazed pot. We think maybe the roots are rotted because the water doesn't drain well, and we plan to unpot the jade so we can look at it and trim back rotted roots. But, as the result of this fear I think I have been under-watering the poor thing!!! We wonder if we should repot in a similar sized or smaller pot. We also plan on mixing sand in with the soil and placing pot shards (which we are using now, but maybe there aren't enough?) to ensure better drainage. We also wonder about the location of the plant. It is currently in a large eastern facing window where it gets a lot of direct light, but there are also considerable temperature changes due to the fact that it is near the window. Is it getting too little/much light? What temperature range can it withstand? We will try to replant a cutting of this plant, too, in case the main plant can't be saved. Please help!

I would also make some cuttings. Stick any breakages into a good moist potting mix and they should root. I grow mine outside and what I know of your weather in summer (son-in-law) it might not hurt it to have an outdoor holiday while it is warm. (in a sheltered spot no direct sun as it is not used to it.
