HI, I have an indoor Sago...it has always grown new leaves, but these are different things growing out it that look like aliens. They are 2 long stick like things growing straight up. they are coming out of the center. The plant is about 2 years old and has never done this before. The regular leaves are looking a little yellowish now, so I am assuming it needs to be fertilized. Which I have never done. Would anyone happen to know what these alien type things are and what I should do with them??? Thanks, Caroline
Sounds like the male part of the plant's reproductive structures. Don't hold your breath waiting for the female parts; you need a female plant for that. Ralph
Caroline, I just found your question that you posted back in July. Check out my post in August about "Cycad flushing" -- does yours look like this? If so, the "sticks" have probably unfurled into leaves by now. Let us know the outcome. --Lori
