I was given a bag of alfalfa pellets. Not sure what to do with them. Can I just sprinkle them on the soil around my ornamentals? Do I need to water them? I assume they equate to the same thing as having grown a cover crop. When can I use them?
    Thanks

Sprinkle around plants that look like they could use a boost. Expect an odor at first as they dampen and begin to break down.

Better bury them lightly in the soil. They are a very good fertilizer but the scent may attract some unwelcome guests to your garden, like rabbits or deer.
