I just succeeded growing roots on two peach limbs. I cut them from the tree and potted them in a mixture of purchased garden soil, spagnum moss, and a small amount of potting soil. Watered them well, tented with a large plastic bag. Quite a few leaves are dropping. I'm wondering if the limb is too large for the new roots to support..and not sure how much to trim off. I live in Iowa. Have the pots on my breezeway, so not much diract sun. Anyone can help me ??

Give it a bit of time for them to adjust to their new pots? How big of limbs are we talking here...it might make a difference on how big of a root structure they need to maintain their leaves once cut. Also if you post a picture of the air layered plants as they are, someone with more helpful information or firsthand experience with air layering on trees may respond! A picture is worth much more to help with understanding problems than words usually.

Thanks...I did prune off two branches and cut back a little on the humidity in the 'tent'. I was thrilled to actually have roots appear after 7 weeks. I will try and post a picture tomorrow. the branches are about 24-30 inches tall. The taller potted peach tree on the left is about 36 inches tall. The tree on the right is about 24 inches tall. I do keep the plastic bag over them as a humidifying tent. Should I prune more. For the most part, the leaf droppage has almost stopped. I'd appreciate any suggestion.
