This plant appeared in a crack in the pavement this year. The flower, which closed in full sun before I could photograph it was a most unusual shape - a cone - like a letter 'V'. Colour of flower: Purple, rather like Scottish thistle colour. One flower only was open. Overall plant height about 18 inches. Date of photo: 26 May 2015, location, Kent UK. The plant looked as if it was very 'spiky' or sharp but was not. I.D. please! Thank you
Looks like Tragopogon porrifolius. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=t...ei=g76RVbaRH4H-Uqm0kOAK&sqi=2&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ
