My neighbor in Austin has an American Agave in his front yard. I was out of town for a couple of weeks earlier this year, and when I came back, it was just there. It was probably over 10 ft tall already, and I was so confused where it came from. He later explained what it was and how fast they grow, and I love watching how much it grows every week. It's crazy to see. I wish I could upload a picture of it in this post, but I don't see a way to. It looks pretty similar to this one though

Really amazing plants. Thanks for sharing this story. It sounds like they have their hands full with that Agave, and the one other is getting ready to grow too.
