Identification: Agave/Aloe Lookalike

    Hi all, can you help me identity this plant? I tried to look it up myself and I think it resembles an agave, but I'm not sure which species. It's possible to be another family.It has distinctive purple coloring in the base and little thorns.

    It's a bromeliad (or pineapple relative) -- most likely a Neoregelia.
