I have searched and searchd for an African violet that blooms a true red, or very close to it. The ones I have purchased so far that were shown to be true red have all turned out to be a very deep dark red-hue violet. A couple of the private growers I've purchased from have given me no reason to believe that they're misrepresenting their stock. I'm wondering if (as with some plants) the color is dependent rather on light level or soil chemistry. Please advise.
