    Aeonium arboreum var. atropurpureum

Are you saying the plant has dropped its leaves in the summer heat? The rosettes should leaf up again in the autumn.

It is a predominently winter growing, mediterranean climate plant that goes dormant during the summer. Be sure to water it thoughly once a week. It is not a desert species. It still needs strong light when grown indoors.
