Hello, I am needing to ask a question about my Ficus Amstel King House tree. Little fruits have appeared every year, and this year more than last year. These are very tiny little dry yellow about the size of a pea. My question is this: Can I propagate this awesome tree by means of drying these little fruits and then collecting seeds from them and planting the seeds in growing medium? I have researched and typically the Ficus is propagated by way of air rooting or branch cuttings. I am just curious what the purpose of these tiny "figs" is, and if anyone else has tried propagating new trees this way? Thanks for your help. Sherry
Since your fruits are unpollinated they won't contain seeds. http://www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/po.../figwasp/fig_wasp_life_cycle_copyright_lg.jpg http://www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/pollinators/pollinator-of-the-month/fig_wasp.shtml
