Identification: adopted house plant

    hello - i adopted a house plant from my employer and do not know what it is therefore i do not know how to properly care for it, please help

    mark looks a bit like a Dracaena to me, bit hard to tell from that pic, for me anyway

    looks like a Dracaena to me too, also the brown spots on the leaves could be from overwatering.

    I would do a thorough bug check---scale insects, etc. Also, pot-size check.

    Looks like, Dracaena deremensis Janet Craig.

    Thanks for your response, as my picture indicates I'm no photographer. Let's hope I'm better at caring for house plants.

    Its plain old Dracaena fragrans. The name Dracaena deremensis is an obsolete synonym and the cultivar name 'Janet Craig' is the typical form of the species.

    The plant appears to have gone through a rough time.

    The plant should be washed down, the dead leaves trimmed off and repotted in fresh soil. Put it somewhere it can get good light and away from drafts, especially in the winter.
