Hi, I hope someone here can help me with a plant that will neither grow ...or die. I carelessly let it get frost damaged 2 years ago and had to cut it back to its caudex -no branches left at all. It healed and looks healthy but has not sprouted leaves. I let it dry out and keep it under the lights with my violets in winter then set it out in the Maryland sun for the summer. Any ideas on how to kick start this guy - it has become a sort of personal challenge now! :) Thanks for any help at all, Jessica
I hope it is still alive ! To start my Adenium into growth each year I water it very heavily just one time - I really saturate the soil. After this, I go very easy on the water until I see new leaves sprouting and growing. Then I start watering well again and periodically (perhaps once a week) use a liquid fertilizer as well. When they are actively growing during the warmer months they respond well to this regime. During the winter i keep it very dry. good luck - I have my fingers crossed for you Brian
Are the roots supposed to be that big in that small of a pot? I know with most other plants that would be a very bad thing and probably a sign that it is root bound - especially if you are not a practitioner of root pruning. (It being root bound would cause the problem with no new growth, reduction of water absorbed with an increase of needed water, ect...) You might want to gently slide it out if its pot a little ways to check that. If the roots are making circles around the inside of your pot it is probably not good for your plant. If it is an issue with the root system being too compact to absorb the right amount of water, you then have two options, prune your plant's roots or find a bigger pot. You might need both if it is really bad. If you do pull it out of the pot and the roots are pretty bound up you should post a picture...maybe some of the guys/gals might be able to advise you on the best course of action with your plant!

Hello, I think the pot is too small, compared with the plants root. Maybe it's the time to change a bigger pot. Also you can add some slow released fertilizer mixed with the soil to feed the plants nutrition. Have a good day. ko8888tw in south taiwan
