Would like to know if there are any Acers which would do well in southern Florida near zone 10. Just moved from CT to FL and really miss my Japense Maples. Would appreciate any counsel. Thanks.
Re: Where should I plant my Japanese Maple USDA zone 10 is out border for Japanese maples;however the only way is total shade for all day e constant humidity more than another zone covered to hot wind.Another maple for es. like acer Campestre(field maple) have good tolerance...
I would try: Acer oblongum, of which there are a number of Japanese selections, some variegated. Acer fabri Acer paxii Acer cordatum Acer obtusifolium Acer sempervivens They are all tender species which are for zones 9 and above. I do not know how they would fare in Florida conditions. Some are from regions in China where conditions may be close enough to Florida's. Gomero
