    Is it due for a Summer prune Keith ? Becoming quite a monster !! And they say seedlings don't do well on their own roots...Lol

    Derek I started an enormous air layer on the left side.. I will try to get a picture of that.
    2+ inch caliper branch being layered. Hopefully it will take.

    Now that is some air layering Keith !!! Please do take a photo and post when you remove the bucket. Hopefully you will have some amazing roots.

    I put flagstone on top to keep soil from washing out with rain.
    I moved one this weekend and found roots

    Removed and planted out the layer today 08/25/2022

    I am planning on getting watering timer to mist foliage regularly
    If it survives it will be my proudest horticultural accomplishment :)

    I have had a very busy spring. The "mother" tree has outgrown it's space. I have take a number of layers and moved to more appropriate locations.
    I plan to take the whole tree as a layer next spring.

    Mine is doing great! I'm keeping it in a pot to keep the size under control, see how strong of a grower it is, lol. I'll be trying to fine a place in the ground for it soon and try to keep it under control.
