Very nice D, if you haven't had it long you are in for a real treat. The leaf colour in Spring is amazing and planted near a yellow, ie Jordan etc is just perfect.
6th May 2021 and my first posting of my Johin for this year. Now considering the absolutely awful Spring we have had so far, with frosts almost every night. I think this one had come through it quite well.
31st May 2021 and now my Johin has leafed out fully. In the early morning sunshine it looks just lovely IMO.
15th June 2021 and the deep colours of my Johin in the all the sun and heat are doing very well. Atm at least.
24th June 2021 and my Johin is now in full Summer mode. The greens are mingling with the deep bronze quite nicely now.
2nd May 2022 and my first posting of my Johin this year. It has all the Spring bronze/reds that this cultivar is known for at this time of the year. But that will change.
28th May 2022 and my Johin in full array of colours now. I know @Cattwooduk was thinking of this one to buy. I couldn't recommend it more.
Love it! I searched for Sensu as well to try and compare the colour and sun tolerance of them both. Sensu sounds like it'll take a full sun beating, is Johin more or less the same? When I first found Sensu all the Google images show it's amazing autumn colours, but most of the images here show it as green. Need to dig into some more of the photos to see it's full colour range through the year. I'll inevitably end up buying both though most likely
Mine takes full sun all day long. I don't have Sensu, but having seen it, I opted for Johin, as the colours were so interesting for the 3 seasons. But if your going to get both !!!!! .............lol.
Have both of these but prefer the Sensu. , more interesting colours through out the season. Second pic is the Johin

Yeah that's what I meant by what can I do when both are great haha! As soon as a few of my customers overdue invoices get paid, I'll be ordering both.
Spoke too soon... I ordered the Sensu about 45 minutes after that message haha. Went to check their stock and noticed Johin was now out of stock, so decided to grab a Sensu just in case the same happened. That's 8 ordered in a week now. I need to enforce a ban on new trees for a little while.
11th November 2022 and a very late Autumn for colour this year. Along with the hot Summer and weird heat ATM, I'm surprised my Johin is doing so well tbh.
18th April 2024 and my Johin leafing out, this is always the very best time IMO, as those large droopy leaves just hang there.
