Re: Pictum Okamotoanum Not sure what that is, but it isn't Acer pictum. Looks closer to Acer platanoides. Here's real Acer pictum, note the similarity to Acer cappadocicum, with simple triangular, untoothed lobes: http://aoki2.si.gunma-u.ac.jp/BotanicalGarden/PICTs/itaya-kaede.jpeg
Re: Pictum Okamotoanum Scroll down for a picture of what you were supposed to have gotten. Maybe it was grafted onto what you got instead, the scion having failed and the rootstock being grown in its place. Or they are just selling the wrong item. http://homepage2.nifty.com/chigyoraku/Pchina.html

Just a note, this maple was raised in rank in 2021 and is now called simply Acer okamotoanum. Nice to see it doing well at the Arnold, which means it should be in with a chance here. Mine had good growth this year, the second in the ground.
In my zone 9b Is Easy tò dead Clay soil not tollerate Hot Wind damage the leaves in two weeks I try in Total shade expo but this maple Is too delicate...
